Gerald Younghusband Harrison. Sub Lieutenant.


Gerald was born to parents Reverend Arthur and Ethel in Pembrokeshire in April 1897 and baptised in the parish of Burton on 4th April with the ceremony performed by his father.  By the 1901 census he and his family had moved east and resided in the small Suffolk village of Walsham Le Willows.


On the 1911 census Gerald was listed as a Naval Cadet attending the Royal Naval College on the Isle of Wight, joining the training establishment in January 1910 as a Midshipman.  He was discharged on 2nd August 1914 and joined HMS Victorious briefly before joining HMS Esther for a month.  He then transferred to HMS Orion from 13th September 1914 until 31st May 1916, joining HMS Daphne.  He joined his last vessel, HMS Vanguard on 18th May 1917, having risen from Acting Sub Lieutenant on 15th May 1916 to Sub Lieutenant.

At the time of his death his address was Yelverton Rectory, Norfolk.  The contents of his will - £145 14s. 10d were issued to his widow Ethel.
